Khoo May Yee, Amely

Managing Partner, High Court of Malaya

Upon obtaining her first degree, Amely had the opportunity to work as a Marketing Executive in Phillip Capital Malaysia located in Penang. She was tasked with the expansion of the business volume of clients’ investing with on and off-shore investments. Her leading portfolio was to study and compare various funds’ performance and assist agents with incorporation and conduct seminars for existing and potential investors.

Subsequently, Amely pursued legal education and graduated with an Honours LLB from the University of London and completed her Certificate of Legal Practice in 2017.  As she read Law as part of her post-degree, she is driven by the strong desire to speak up against injustice and to right the wrongs.

Amely handles corporate and commercial disputes, ranging from company and shareholders’ disputes, contractual disputes, conspiracy and fraud, employment, injunctions, Winding-up proceedings, Land Acquisition & Land Reference Proceedings, etc.

Amely further enriched her legal expertise by joining Messrs Foo Hiap Siong & Co. in year 2021 as a Senior Associate and her areas of practice and trial experiences are in the areas of Civil Dispute Resolution. She is also involved in the drafting of Commercial Agreements for both domestic and international clientele, preparation of copyright materials in Intellectual Property matters and advised in passing off proceedings. She got promoted to Salaried Partner in Foo Hiap Siong & Co. ending year 2022.

As of July 15, 2023, Amely has taken a significant step in her professional journey by establishing Messrs Amely Khoo & Co. Her commitment to the legal field, coupled with her diverse experiences, positions her as a dedicated legal professional ready to offer expert counsel to clients. With a wealth of experience spanning various legal firms and a solid foundation in corporate disputes, Amely is poised to bring her expertise and passion to every case she handles at Messrs Amely Khoo & Co.

Noor Syaqirah

Legal Associate

Syaqirah began her legal career as a chambering student at Amirtha VS & Co in Kuala Lumpur, gaining exposure to conveyancing and general civil litigation (August 2018 – June 2019). Following this, she transitioned to a legal assistant role at Lee & Lim in Petaling Jaya, Selangor (July 2019 – December 2019), where she handled a broader range of legal matters including conveyancing, civil litigation, and banking matters. This role also involved attending court cases in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.​

Prior to her role as a Legal Assistant at MN Halim Syaffie & Associates (June 2022 – Present), Syaqirah has demonstrated a strong track record in various legal areas. She is proficient in handling all aspects of conveyancing transactions, experienced in will drafting, and has extensive experience in probate and letter of administration procedures. She also excels in representing clients in both contested and uncontested divorce proceedings, including child custody, support, and property division. Additionally, she is well-versed in distribution law matters for small estates and adept at handling civil litigation matters through all stages, including pleadings, discovery, motions, trial preparations, and execution proceedings. Furthermore, she has assisted partners with criminal litigation cases.

Earlier in her career, the lawyer held the position of Legal Officer at Lazada Malaysia (January 2020 – July 2020). In this role, she honed her skills in drafting contracts for various purposes, including billboard advertising, commercial products, and joint partnerships. She also effectively negotiated terms in contracts to reach mutual agreement and ensured compliance with legal standards and client specifications.​

Her previous experience as a Company Secretary at De Jure Business Advisory (August 2020 – May 2022) showcased her abilities in company incorporation, maintaining statutory registers and records, and implementing best corporate governance practices. She also played a key role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements during audits or inspections.

With a comprehensive background spanning from administrative functions to active participation in legal proceedings, Syaqirah is a valuable asset to Messrs Amely Khoo & Co. legal team, bringing dedication, skill, and a keen eye for detail to every role she undertakes.​

Muhammad Haikal Bin Che Hasim

Legal Associate

Muhammad Haikal Bin Che Hasim graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. S) from the Islamic Science University Malaysia (USIM) in 2024. He commenced his pupillage at Messrs Ahmeena Aziz & Partners from October 2023 to August 2024, gaining extensive exposure to general civil litigation, with a focus on debt recovery matters.

During his pupillage, he was actively involved in drafting legal cause papers, conducting legal research, and assisting in various stages of litigation, including mediation, hearings, and execution proceedings. He also gained hands-on experience in probate and administration matters, where he assisted in representing clients in estate-related proceedings.

With a strong foundation in debt recovery and civil litigation, he is joining Messrs Amely Khoo & Co. as a Legal Associate, where he will assist the firm’s partner in litigation-related matters. His approach to legal practice emphasizes structured case analysis, meticulous drafting, and strategic problem-solving to achieve optimal outcomes for clients.

His experience also includes site visits and case investigations, particularly in disputes involving financial institutions and corporate entities. He is adept at conducting due diligence searches, analyzing findings, and preparing detailed reports tailored to client and management requirements. His ability to balance professionalism with clear and concise legal communication makes him a valuable asset in litigation and client advisory work.
